Elderly man and woman with expressions of annoyance on their faces.

Earlier this week, I posted an article suggesting ways to express appreciation for our loved one’s caregivers. Afterward, I received an interesting email from one of my readers.

She asked what we can do when we feel unappreciated. What about those residents and their family members who never express a word of thanks? Rather, they seem to nitpick everything we do.

I suspect every caregiver can relate to this experience. Here are several tips to help you cope with these situations.

How to lead a productive meeting

Recently I invited my readers to share topics they would like to see addressed in upcoming blog posts. Today I’m excited to get started on one of the many excellent suggestions you submitted.

Here’s the first situation. A nursing home employee expressed frustration over what she perceives as unnecessary and unproductive meetings at her workplace. I can relate, and I’ll bet you’ve experienced meetings like this, too. Am I right?

nursing home memorial service ideas

A friend and I recently attended a fundraising event for a local charity. While there, I ran across a woman whose mother was a former resident at the nursing home where I volunteer.

She told me how much she appreciated the care provided for her mom over the years. But she said what she remembers most is how the staff cared for her mom and the family after her death.

Like many nursing homes, we offer a bedside memorial service as well as a final escort after the death of a resident. These are important for a few reasons:
