Like many of you, I eagerly awaited the day when my turn came to receive the COVID vaccination. I found the cases of severe illnesses and deaths from COVID-19 frightening. And, since my job involves working with large numbers of people in the community, I knew I was at increased risk.

The day after my Moderna vaccination, I felt exhausted, and my temperature went up to 100.2. But the side effects only lasted a day, and I considered the discomfort well worth the COVID protection I received.

Unhappy News To Share

Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been absent from my blog over the past couple of weeks. After not feeling well for several days, I ended up in the hospital and came out with a diagnosis I never expected. I have metastatic breast cancer.

I’ll meet with an oncologist on Wednesday, and we’ll come up with a treatment plan. In the meantime, I’ve been trying to work on my blog. But my brain feels overwhelmed, and I realize I need to take a break.

Even though I probably won’t share a lot of new posts over the next few weeks, I hope you’ll continue to visit my blog. Perhaps this is a good time to catch up on the over 400 posts I’ve shared over the past three years.

I know God will walk with me through this new journey, and I know there will be lessons to learn as I transition from caregiver to patient. I’ll keep you posted.
