Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Combine dry ingredients.
Blend egg and buttermilk. Stir into flour mixture. Mix just until moistened.
Stir butter into mixture.
Pour into greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Bake for 65-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center of bread comes out clean.
Cool on a wire rack.
Wrap in aluminum foil overnight.
