First of all, thank you so much to everyone who took the time to fill out my end-of-year survey. This is an enormous help as I plan the direction of my blog for 2019. Today I’m sharing the highlights from your responses.
Topics you found most helpful
When I asked about the topics you found most helpful in 2018, I expected to see a few categories stand out above the rest. Surprisingly, most of the categories received a similar number of votes.
I believe this is a good thing. It means that each of the blog categories was interesting and helpful to a group of my readers.
That being said, there was one exception in the results. The category that received the most votes was “activity ideas”.
As a result of the survey, I plan to continue featuring the same categories in 2019. However, I’ll focus on sharing more activities that are enjoyable and meaningful for our residents. If you have activities that are especially popular at your facility, I would love to see them in the comment section!
Topics to explore in more detail
Again, the votes were spread quite evenly when I asked about topics you would like to see in 2019. It was of particular significance to me that many of you indicated an interest in reading caregiver interviews.
I’ll admit that this is something I planned to start in 2018. However, for a variety of reasons, the project never got off the ground. Since this is of interest to so many of you, I’ll make it a priority to add caregiver interviews to my blog in 2019.
Also, most of you indicated you are at least somewhat interested in seeing weekly deals highlighted on my blog. I’m excited about adding this feature because I love to discover good deals and I look forward to sharing them with you.
The deals might not be featured every week—I’ll simply post them as I find them. But you can rest assured that I’ll only share deals that I feel confident will be of interest and value to my blog readers.
Your Comments
I didn’t receive many comments on my survey. To those who offered kind words of appreciation, you touched my heart! In addition, your comments help make this blogging journey worthwhile.
The comment I found most fascinating was one reader’s suggestion that I should change the name of my blog. That’s because it’s now being read by such a wide variety of people besides nursing home volunteers.
Volunteering is dear to my heart, and that’s my current role at the nursing home. However, I also want to meet the needs and interests of other people who are affiliated with nursing homes.
I’ll give this suggestion consideration over the next few months. I’m also curious to hear what the rest of you think about changing the name of my blog.
A Final Word
As we look to 2019, I’m excited to discover and share new ideas that will further enhance the lives of the residents whom we serve. I always love to hear your suggestions, so please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts in the comment section.
If you didn’t get a chance to complete the survey, or if you think of anything to add, please feel free to send me an email: NursingHomeVolunteer@gmail.com
