One goal for my blog is to alert my readers to educational opportunities. So, I’m excited to let you know that the Caregiver Smile Summit is back again for the third year! Whether you’re a family caregiver, healthcare professional, volunteer, or student, I highly recommend this excellent resource.
What is the Caregiver Smile Summit?
The Summit is an annual event that helps us in our roles as caregivers. And, the best part is that you need not go anywhere to take part. You simply access the event on your phone, computer, or tablet.
Today I’ll share an overview of the Summit. Next, you can go to the website to learn the details and find answers to your questions.
Topics for the 2019 Summit
This year’s Caregiver Smile Summit addresses an array of issues. These are a few of my favorites:
- Balancing caregiving and your career
- Family dynamics
- Adjusting after caregiving ends
- Protecting the health of the caregiver
- Legal and financial issues
- End of life care
Who will speak at the Summit?
The 2019 Caregiver Smile Summit features over 40 experts. These are several that I’m eager to learn from:
Barry Jacobs
Dr. Jacobs is a clinical psychologist and family therapist. He’ll offer tips to promote harmonious sibling relationships when caring for aging parents.
Lakelyn Hogan
Besides her work as a gerontologist, Lakelyn also serves on the board of the Dreamweaver Foundation, a group that grants wishes to terminally ill adults. During the Summit, Lakelyn will share tips for talking with your employer about your needs as a family caregiver.
Kathryn Harrison
Perhaps you’ve read Kathryn’s popular children’s book, Weeds in Nana’s Garden. Kathryn will help us learn how to support relationships between children and people who live with dementia.
Angelia Brigance
A passionate speaker and author on eldercare issues, Angelia will talk about the use of Granny Cams in healthcare. She’ll include the pros and cons, as well as critical legal issues.
John Leland
John is the author of the New York Times Best Selling book, Happiness Is a Choice You Make: Lessons from Among the Oldest Old. During the Summit, John will teach us how to learn from our elders’ wisdom and experience to live happier lives.
How much does the Summit cost?
First, let me say that this is one of the most budget-friendly educational programs for caregivers that I’ve ever encountered. The pre-registration price is just $50. You’ll want to register now because the price will increase to $75 once the Summit goes live on November 1.
What I appreciate about this event is that once you pay the fee, the webinar is yours forever. This is so helpful because, as your caregiver journey changes, you can refer back for relevant information and advice.
Here’s more good news: You can still access the Caregiver Smile Summits from the past two years at reduced prices. (Read my summary of last year’s event in this post.) Click the image below and look for “Past Summits” on the sidebar.
