Getting To Know Me

Drawings with the words "hi! "and "hello!"When I asked for topic suggestions for my blog, one of my readers asked if I would share more information about myself and my background. So, today I’m listing several random facts about myself. (If there’s something else you would like to know, please ask in the comments!)

  • I’m an RN. I decided to become a nurse when I was eight years old after reading a book about Clara Barton.
  • I received my BA in nursing from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.
  • I volunteered at a local nursing home for six years until a fire destroyed it last January. The rebuilding process will begin in the spring, and I’m excited to volunteer once again.
  • I work part-time as a corporate wellness nurse. We do health screenings and health coaching in business settings. I also work at flu vaccination clinics every fall.
  • I’m a Christian and a member of an ELCA (Lutheran) congregation.
  • I’m the proud mom of two adult children. My daughter is a physical therapist, and my son is in grad school.
  • I have one sister and no brothers. My sister is a year older than me and works as a librarian.
  • I grew up on a farm near the little town of Roseau, Minnesota.
  • I’ve always lived in the Midwest, specifically Minnesota, Montana, and North Dakota.
  • I have a cat named Ollie who is deaf.
  • My pet peeve is when people handle food with their bare hands while they’re cooking.
  •  In 2016, my daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful vacation in Ireland after I won the trip in a sweepstake. The only other foreign countries I’ve visited are Canada and England.
  • If I had to change careers, I think I would enjoy being a genetic genealogist.

I also love getting to know my readers. If there’s something you would like to share, please make a note in the comment section!
