Acts of kindness for elderly

Can you believe we’re down to the last month in our year-long kindness project?! At this point, you have access to 84 acts of kindness that your residents can do for other people.

You may have noticed that I’m posting the list earlier than usual this month. That’s because I know how quickly your holiday calendars fill up, and I don’t want your residents to miss out on these opportunities to care for others.

Be sure to check back in January when I’ll put together a summary of the most popular ideas we’ve shared this year. In the meantime, here’s our list for December:

Wear Brown Shoes Day

Did you know that December 4 is National Wear Brown Shoes Day? Neither did I until I started researching little-known holidays.

I’m not sure why the holiday focuses on the color brown. But, as far as I’m concerned, this day is a good excuse for us to celebrate all things related to shoes.

That’s why I hope you’ll add these fun activities to your December calendar. If you have other suggestions, I would love to have you share them with my readers in the comment section!

Acts of kindness

We’re down to our final two months of sharing ideas on how our residents can show acts of kindness to others. As I mentioned in the beginning, our residents are frequently the receivers of care. But they also appreciate the opportunity to care for other people.

In case you missed last month’s post, you can find it here.  Now let’s look at ideas for November.

Rosie the Riveter

One of my readers recently asked if I have any fresh ideas for celebrating Veterans Day. I directed her to a post I wrote several months ago about how to honor veterans at our nursing homes.

In addition, over the past several days, I’ve been trying to brainstorm other unique activities. And I think I came up with a good idea. I hope you’ll use Veterans Day as an opportunity to honor Rosie the Riveters.

This topic is dear to my heart because my mom was a Rosie. Mom passed away many years ago, and I wish I had asked her more questions about this unique experience in her life.
