Your response to last month’s post about MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) went far beyond my expectations! Obviously, my readers are very interested in educational opportunities. So this month I decided to share another of my favorite resources to help us keep up with healthcare information.
Have you heard about Khan Academy? The mission of Khan Academy is to “provide a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere”. Similar to most MOOCs, their courses are available free of charge. Unlike MOOCs, all of the Khan Academy classes are ongoing, so you can sign up whenever you wish and complete them at your own pace.
Khan Academy provides courses for both children and adults. Some of their math classes begin at age 5, and they also provide test prep courses for high school and college students.
These are the courses I believe will be of interest to people who work or volunteer in nursing homes. All are in video format, and they’re divided into smaller units, so you can pick and choose what you wish to study.
