At this time of year, I always receive requests for holiday fundraising ideas. First, you’ll want to check out these 10 Christmas fundraisers I shared back in 2019.
Today I’m adding four more fundraisers successfully hosted by a variety of healthcare facilities. I’ll include links so you can contact the organizations directly for more details.
Autumn Bounty Raffle
Hunterdon Health in New Jersey came up with a creative new way to host a raffle. Throughout November, they are doing drawings to give away two awesome prizes each day.
The prizes (most donated by businesses) total a $10,000 value for the entire month! These include gift baskets, cash, sports tickets, gift cards, and other fun prizes.
In order to take part, you buy a ticket for $20, making you eligible for each day’s drawing. Proceeds will go to help support Hunterdon Health’s hospice services.
Bust a Crust
Most people would appreciate a bit of help to prepare their holiday meals. That’s why Bust a Crust became an annual fundraiser to benefit Meals on Wheels programs in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky.
Area bakeries, grocers, and restaurants donate pies (pumpkin, apple, pecan, and sweet potato) for sale. Each year, they also feature a non-pie dessert. This year, it’s a delicious carrot cake.
Customers place orders online and pick up the pies at a central location on a specified date.
Remembrance Doves
Every year, The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center sponsors its Remembrance Doves program. Proceeds go to help support the services of the Family Hospice.
They invite people to send in a piece of fabric from a loved one’s clothing. Volunteers transform the fabric into a 5″ x 5″ dove Christmas ornament.
Lights of Love
I’m seeing lots of senior care communities hosting similar fundraising events this year, so I’ll use the RK MacDonald Nursing Home as an example. They are located in Nova Scotia.
Guests can purchase a light for the nursing home’s Christmas tree. The cost varies depending on the color of the light you choose. You can designate the light in memory of a loved one. Or, you can designate the light to honor someone, in which case, a card can be sent to your honoree.
The event culminates with a lighting ceremony held in the chapel on the first Sunday of December. Proceeds fund a unique project at the nursing home each year.
I would love to hear about the holiday fundraisers you’re hosting in your senior living communities this year. Please share in the comments!
