Girls Night Out
It’s not unusual to hear about walks or runs being held to raise money for charities. However, Girls Night Out isn’t an ordinary event. Held in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, England, this walk raises funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care.
Participants gather sponsorships, then choose either a 6-mile or an 11-mile route for the evening walk. To make the event unique, the women wear their pajamas as well as flashing rabbit ears.
More than 2100 women participated in last year’s event. Many walked in remembrance of a loved one.
Rubber Ducky Race
This annual duck race, sponsored by Northwest Colorado Health, raises funds for their many healthcare services. These include The Haven Assisted Living. For a $10 fee, attendees cheer on their rubber duck as it floats down the Yampa River or slides down a water slide. Winners receive cash prizes,
Businesses or individuals also have the opportunity to become sponsors at various levels. Among others, these include Grand Quacker, Swan, and Duckling. Upper-level sponsors can also decorate a rubber duck for entry into a duck beauty contest.
Grab & Go Breakfast
Last year, Life Care Center of New Port Richey, Florida teamed up with Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation to sponsor a breakfast fundraiser. For a donation, guests enjoyed the convenience of a ready-to-eat bagged breakfast. Each bag contained coffee, juice, an egg sandwich, muffin, yogurt, and fruit.
Ole School Lawn Party
National Church Residences Park Place in Harper Woods, Michigan decided they needed a dog park for pets of their senior center residents. To raise funds, they came up with what they dubbed an Ole Skool Lawn Party.
The outdoor event was open to the public and included music, entertainment, food, and display tables sponsored by local businesses. The humane society also brought dogs that were available for adoption.
A unique aspect of the event was the availability of services to promote wellness. These included dental checks and mammograms.
Thrivent Choice Dollars
Christian Community Homes & Services in Hudson, Wisconsin is a Thrivent Choice Enrolled Organization. This means that Thrivent Financial members can request Thrivent to donate a portion of its charitable funding to this senior living community.
If you would like more information on becoming a Thrivent Choice Enrolled Organization, you can find the details on their website. Note that an organization needs to be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to receive funds.
