nursing home fundraising ideas

I know many of you are looking for fun and creative ways to pay for special activities at your senior care communities. Today I’m posting 4 ideas from real healthcare facilities that I think you’ll find helpful. As in the past, I’ve included a link to each organization so you can contact them directly for more details.

Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

Paramount At Somers in New York held a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater to raise money for their rehab and nursing center. Loosely based on the game of Clue, participants enjoyed a delicious meal while attempting to solve a whodunit.

If you’re not familiar with mystery theater, you can buy kits on Amazon. While you’ll want to create your own mystery, these kits offer plot ideas and help you understand the format.

Drive-In Film Festival

Last year, Pendleside Hospice in the UK raised money by hosting a Christmas film festival at a local college. Besides watching Elf and Home Alone, guests enjoyed a Christmas market. Activities included face painting, a gift shop, children’s crafts, and lots of great food.

Sign Making Class

Perhaps you’re familiar with organizations that host painting classes to raise money. If you’ve attended a few of these events, it becomes challenging to know where to put all of your masterpieces.

That’s why I’m happy to see that Mahone Bay Nursing Home in Nova Scotia offers a fresh twist on this event. In October, they’ll team up with an organization called Sparklensign to raise funds for the Salvation Army.

Participants pay a flat fee that covers all the supplies needed to create a beautiful sign for their home or office. They even get to choose their design and colors to match their decor.

Trivia Night

Mendota Lutheran Home in Illinois hosted a Trivia Night to help pay for upgrades to their services and equipment. Teams reserved a table for a fee of $40, then competed for prizes by answering brain-challenging trivia questions. The event included appetizers and other refreshments.
