Your creativity never ends! Just when I think that I can’t possibly come up with another fundraising idea for my monthly post, you come through with even more terrific suggestions.
Today’s ideas come from nursing homes around the United States. As before, I’ve included a link to each facility. This enables you to contact them directly for more details about their projects.
Each November, Wood Glen Court in Texas hosts a cake auction. All proceeds go to support the Alzheimer’s Association.
The facility recruits people who love to bake, and each person creates two cakes—one for tasting and the other for an auction.
Participants also pay an entrance fee. Last year the event raised more than $2700!
Residents at Brightview Senior Living created beautiful coasters as a fundraiser. I’m told they “sold like hotcakes”.
The facility purchased ceramic tiles on Amazon and used alcohol ink from Michaels. Here’s an excellent YouTube video showing how to make the coasters.
(Be sure to do this project in a well-ventilated area, as the alcohol is rather stinky!)
Last Easter, the Villas of Holly Brook in Illinois held an Egg My Yard event. Proceeds funded the purchase of a new storage unit for the activities department.
For a fee, community members could have treat-filled plastic eggs hidden in their yards the evening before Easter Sunday. What a fun surprise for children in the morning!
Every month, Twin Fountains Home in Georgia offers a canvas art class for its residents. They sell the paintings at a silent auction each September.
Half of all proceeds go to the purchase of art supplies for the group. The residents donate the other half to the Alzheimer’s Association.
