Change. I think that’s the best word to describe the past several weeks of dealing with COVID-19. Never in my career have I seen nursing home residents, family members, and employees called upon to adjust to so many life-altering changes in such a brief time.
Eventually, scientists will develop a vaccine or effective treatment, and this pandemic will end. Many aspects of our lives will return to normal. Yet, life will never truly be the same again.
Change is hard. But it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’m confident that the pandemic will bring about positive changes in nursing homes that will enhance the lives of our residents for decades to come.
With this in mind, I think we all can use these encouraging words to help us embrace change.
